The National Hydropower Association (NHA) is pleased to announce Seth Hanlon, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Tax and Climate Policy at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, will address attendees as part of NHA’s Waterpower Week in Washington D.C., which runs from March 13-15, 2024.

Prior to his role with Treasury, Hanlon was a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress, a public policy research and advocacy organization headquartered in Washington D.C., where he focused on tax and economic policy.

From 2015-2017, Hanlon served as a special assistant to the president for economic policy at the White House National Economic Council, where he coordinated the Obama administration’s tax policy.

Additionally, Hanlon was the Senior Tax Counsel for the House Budget Committee Democratic staff, and he provided tax counsel for Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), a senior Finance Committee member.

In addition to his work on the Hill, Hanlon was an associate attorney at Caplin & Drysdale, Chartered, where he advised corporations, individuals, and non-profit organizations on tax law.
