If you are looking for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play an extraordinary golf course, you’ll want to sign up for the golf outing taking place the week of the Clean Currents conference and tradeshow in Atlanta.

The outing takes place on Monday afternoon, October 18, 2021, at the prestigious Capital City Club’s Brookhaven Golf Course in Buckhead, Georgia, just 20 minutes from the Georgia World Congress Center, home of Clean Currents.

With the strong assistance of Southern Company and event sponsors, the Hydropower Foundation has arranged for the industry to play on this members-only course at a rate highly discounted from the typical visitor’s fee.

The Unique Venue

The Capital City Club was chartered in 1883 as a downtown social club, and the Crabapple Golf Course was developed in 1926.  Today the vista from the clubhouse, with the course laid out around the lake, is spectacular. The fairways have interesting topography, and the grass is so perfect that one could play billiards on them! The rough is one inch and is like a carpet.

The Club has a storied history with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby having played a charity match there in 1943 for the Red Cross, and Byron Nelson won the Iron Lung Tournament there in 1945. In addition, in 2003, President Mikhail Gorbachev (former Russian President) and Dr. Helmut Kohl (Chancellor of Germany) dined together in the Club’s Lakeview Room.

The course was entirely redesigned by golf architect Bob Cupp in 2009 to further improve the golfing experience, and in 2011 the Club hosted the Western States Golf Association (WSGA) Amateur Championship.

Details of the October 18 Outing

The event check-in starts at 10:30 a.m., and golf will be a shotgun start at noon. Lunch and reception to follow, along with prizes for the top four teams and skill shots.

The Hydropower Foundation encourages participation in this great golfing experience. In addition to playing yourself, it’s an ideal opportunity to invite customers, colleagues, and friends.

If you would like to promote your company to the golfers, the Foundation has means of advertising on the GPS displays on the carts. Contact David at david@hydrofoundation.org if you are interested.
