Leading the Industry
As the voice of the waterpower industry, the National Hydropower Association is dedicated to fostering an environment that is safe and welcoming to people of all backgrounds.
At NHA, we know that a welcoming, inclusive,
and diverse workplace is an incubator for innovative thinking.
A more diverse, equitable, and inclusive industry starts with ensuring each individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic self to the table every day.
We recognize the industry has room to grow and improve. Ignoring these disparities allows them to persist. At NHA, we are taking a more deliberate approach to increasing participation of underrepresented communities in our industry. We are actively recruiting more BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Veterans, Women, People with Disabilities, and Young Professionals our steering committees, panels, staff, and Board of Directors.
We’ve created an all new ad-hoc group called Future Leaders of Waterpower (FLOW) dedicated to recruiting diverse, talented professionals and providing the next generation of industry innovators with the tools and resources they need for growth and career advancement.
Make Your Voice Heard
Join an NHA Committee of Council. NHA’s many councils and committees are open to employees of NHA members only. They provide valuable avenues for NHA members to advocate for the future of the industry.
Create Content. NHA’s events are industry- and member-driven. This means that NHA relies on attendees to provide input on what kinds of sessions or panels they want on conference agendas.
Be a Future Leader of Waterpower. NHA has created this ad-hoc group, called Future Leaders of Waterpower (FLOW), to address a crucial need in the industry: Attract and retain young professionals, women, BIPOC, veterans, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+, professionals with 15 years or less experience in waterpower, and more.
Attend an NHA Event
NHA hosts a range of events throughout the year. These are great ways to meet the movers-and-shakers in the industry, learn from expert speakers, and network with colleagues.
We all have a role in creating an inclusive environment where each of us is welcomed, valued,
respected and empowered to bring our authentic selves to work every day.
