Daniella Piper is a history maker. In April 2021, she took charge of the Niagara Power Project, becoming the first woman to hold the post of Regional Manager for the New York Power Authority’s (NYPA) largest facility and flagship hydroelectric project in Lewiston.

Piper will give the Opening Keynote at the National Hydropower Association’s (NHA) 2021 Northeast Regional Meeting on July 20-21. Registration for the event is currently open.

Before being named Regional Manager for Niagara Power Project and Chief Transformation Officer at NYPA, Daniella Piper served as chief of staff to NYPA President and CEO, Gil Quiniones. She was also Vice President of NYPA’s Digital Transformation Office.

Piper is a professional engineer in the state of New York and holds a Bachelor of Engineering in electrical engineering from City College of New York, a Master of Science in electrical engineering from New York University, and a Master of Science in civil engineering from Manhattan College.

As the Chief Transformation Officer, Piper will continue working on NYPA’s VISION2030 plan, a ten-year strategic plan to transform New York’s energy infrastructure to a clean, reliable, resilient, and affordable system.

In 2019, NYPA began a 15-year, $1.1 billion program to modernize the 60-year-old Niagara Power Project with new, largely digital equipment.

“Our new VISION2030 strategy specifically recognizes the role that technology and innovation play in achieving the State’s decarbonization goals,” says Piper.

The New York Power Authority is the Host Utility for the Northeast Regional Meeting and has contributed greatly to the creation of the agenda.
