Confirming our long-term commitment to the North American hydroelectric industry, American Hydro is pleased to announce the successful installation and commissioning of two major machine tools in our York, Pennsylvania, facility.

The MultiTec 3500 AT 5-axis machining center was custom designed and manufactured by Waldrich Coburg for American Hydro.

The new portal type, state-of-the-art machining center is fully automated, has two independent tables, and is capable of 5-axis machining of components up to 3.5 meters (11.5 feet) and 27 tons.

The machining center delivery, installation, and commissioning was completed as originally scheduled despite the many challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The MultiTec installation follows on the heels of the installation of a Toshiba BP 150 R22 Horizontal Boring Mill.

This fully automated machine has 4-axis capabilities and a 20-ton capacity rotary table.

These major investments are part of a continuous improvement program and will enhance American Hydro’s hydro component machining capabilities, efficiency, quality, and delivery times.
