NHA joined 16 other #renewable and #cleanenergy groups to toast the historic investments and momentum recently made in the clean energy field. Continued Congressional support and investment for #hydropower and other renewables is vital to keeping our 24/7 clean energy grid ready and reliable!

Really pleased to be sharing our thought leadership report on re-energising offshore wind. This is the first campaign I have worked on since joining Newton so I am very proud of this one. We worked with FT Longitude to survey 200 senior industry leaders to explore how the UK can maximise its offshore wind resources to reach the target of 50GW of offshore energy by 2030. There are challenges ahead but our report looks at what is possible in order to meet this target as part of the UK's ambitions to build a net zero future. https://lnkd.in/ezy5zZKx #offshore #floatingwind #floatingoffshorewind #energy #ukoffshorewind #renewableenergy
Launching today, Newton’s latest research report - Re-energising offshore wind. Generating energy through offshore wind is a critical factor in the UK’s net-zero ambition, with a target to achieve 50GW of offshore wind energy by 2030. In our latest research we explore how the UK can maximise its world-class offshore wind resources to build a net zero future and ask what is possible by 2030. In this critical decade for clean energy, the focus of industry, government, and market bodies should be on developing mechanisms to accelerate transmission buildout and encourage investment in storage and renewables. Ultimately, we need to increase the hosting capacity of the network to maximise dispatchability of existing clean generators while enabling more renewable energy to connect to the grid, reducing emissions and bringing down costs to consumers. With the Energy Security Board giving its draft recommendations on Transmission Access Reform to Energy Ministers mid-year, we have continued working closely with our members to determine the best response to this ongoing and critical body of work. This paper on property values and windfarms will likely get more play in the climate press. It says that the value of real estate in proximity to windfarms declines. In some instances, that decline is erased over time. Much is made of the visual impact of windfarms, but two other factors contribute: the noise of windfarms and the visual impact of the associated transmission lines. Offshore windfarms mitigate both of those, but offshore wind costs about 3x more than onshore wind. I surmise opponents of wind power will use this study in future permitting processes. #renewables #wind #windenergy #renewableenergy #windfarms #electricity Renewable Energy Bill Shevlin Ralph Birkhoff David Blackmon Oscar L. A handful of notable announcements for the energy sector in the Autumn Statement, but overall it was seen as a missed opportunity to increase the UK's international competitiveness in industries like hydrogen, CCUS and SMRs. Announcements around grid upgrades and a concentrated effort to reduce grid connection times are welcomed, in addition to modernising the investment powers of The Crown Estate and the exemption to the Energy Generation Levy, both of which are positive steps in supporting the offshore wind industry. Watch Energy and Utilities expert Anthony Legg's key takeaways from the Autumn Statement below: #AutumnStatement #Energy #UK

We’re inspired by exciting new data from the American Clean Power Association (ACP) regarding the impact of the recent groundbreaking federal legislation on our industry. The ACP found that the past year has resulted in private investments totaling $271 billion in domestic clean energy projects and manufacturing facilities. The amount exceeds the total clean energy investment made over the previous eight years combined! This kind of news reminds us of the incredible importance of federal and state support for renewables and galvanizes us to keep doing what we do. We’re guessing it will do the same for many others leading our nation’s clean energy transition. https://lnkd.in/gvDk9GkU #PoweringTheEnergyTransformation #communitysolar #commercialsolar #assetacquisition
