Yesterday's "Water and Power Subcommittee Hearing to Provide Oversight of the Bureau and Reclamation and to Receive Testimony on Pending Legislation" featured incredible support for the "Community and Hydropower Improvement Act." The "Community and Hydropower Improvement Act," which was introduced by Senators Steve Daines (R-MT) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA), aims to streamline and modernize the hydropower licensing and re-licensing process. During the hearing, Ranking Member Risch (R-ID) also addressed the need for hydropower permitting reform, voicing his support for the "Community and Hydropower Improvement Act," and the importance of hydropower: "Not only is this energy [hydropower] clean and affordable, but it's also reliable with the ability to ramp up and down, to paying on-demand spikes, and weather fluctuations." To help support the "Community and Hydropower Improvement Act," reach out to your senators to cosponsor the bill, if they have not already. Check out Senator Steve Daines' comments below.
