YCWA is a stand-alone California local government entity created in 1959 to provide flood control, a wholesale water supply and hydroelectric generation. Twenty -three employees operate and maintain the tallest concrete dam in FERC’s jurisdiction, a 966000 AF reservoir, recreation facilities, 9.4 miles of tunnels and 4 powerhouses with 364 MW with average annual generation of 1570 GWH. The project operation has resulted in the Yuba River being one of the healthiest salmon and steelhead fisheries in California.
