The Bowersock Mills and Power Company is a small (2.3 MW), family-owned run-of-river project on the Kansas River at the Bowersock Dam in Lawrence, KS. Bowersock first operated as a mill and generated mechanical energy for the City of Lawrence. The project began generating electrical energy in 1905, and has continued generation to this day, relying on seven 300 kw generators installed in the 1920s and 1930s. The Bowersock Team is honored to have earned Low-Impact Certification from the Low-Impact Hydropower Institute in 2005.
