Florida Atlantic University’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute is a world-renowned research facility. Its 140 marine scientists, engineers, educators and other professionals work together in pursuit of its mission, expressed as Ocean Science for a Better World. The institute drives innovation in ocean engineering, at-sea operations, drug discovery and biotechnology from the oceans, coastal ecology and conservation, marine mammal research and conservation, aquaculture, ocean observing systems and marine science education. FAU is also home to the Southeast National Marine Renewable Energy Center, a federally funded research facility that is developing technology to generate energy by harnessing the power of Florida’s ocean currents.
