Avista headquartered in Spokane, Washington was founded in 1889. Avista engages in energy production, transmission and distribution, as well as other energy-rated activities.

Avista provides electric and natural gas service to about 680,000 customers in WA, ID and OR. Avista owns and operates biomass, coal and natural gas plants as well as eight hydroelectric developments on the Clark Fork and Spokane rivers which allows for a diverse energy mix of resources that provides a balance of reliability and renewable fuel sources to its customers.

Avista is ranked by the National Resource Defense Council in its “Benchmarking Air Emissions of the 100 Largest Electric Power Producers in the United States” as one of the cleanest utilities when it comes to greenhouse gases.
