American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) is the nonprofit wholesale power supplier and services provider for 129 member municipal electric systems in six states: Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky. Combined, these public utilities serve over 570,000 customers.
AMP is developing the largest deployment of new run-of-the-river hydroelectric generation in the country with five projects under development at existing dams on the Ohio River. Combined, the five projects will add more than 350 megawatts (MW) of renewable generation to its portfolio and bring jobs and economic development to the region. AMP is committed to developing renewable energy sources and has formed joint ventures and partnerships with individual communities to promote renewable generation. AMP’s renewable portfolio includes wind, hydro and landfill gas.
